Conference – November 10th, Wimbledon, London One of the highlights of my year is the annual conference organised by Jubilee+. Not only is it practical and equipping but plenty of time is provided for Prayer, Prophetic release and Networking. These makes the conference particularly special. Who is it for? Anyone is welcome to attend but I would particularly urge those who have a heart for the poor or who are actively involved in ministry with the poor to prioritise this in their diaries. Michael Akotia I have known Michael for about twenty years. I first met him at the turn of the century when he was a leader in training in Ghana shortly before Simon Pettit and John Kpikpi laid hands on him commissioning him to plant a church in Ho. I was immediately impacted by his gentle spirit and grace-filled walk with God. Over the years I have watched him develop his leadership gift and ministry, and so enjoyed meeting him recently after a five year gap. He now leads a network of 14 churches in Ghana and works in relationship with Jeremy Simpkins who leads the Christ Central apostolic sphere, one of over twenty who are now relating together in the Newfrontiers family worldwide. The Purposes of God Some days you wake up expecting a normal day only to find that by the evening life has changed. Although we did not recognise it at the time this proved to be our experience in 1968 when Terry Virgo walked into our lives. Janita and I had been married for one year and lived in a village, Scaynes Hill, in Sussex. Some newly weds, Phil and Agnes Ball, moved into the village and a bumper sticker revealed they were Christians. As we got to know them we decided to start a village Bible Study and they said they would invite their friend Terry to that first meeting. And so we first met. Sam leads the Riches of Grace Church in Lagos, Nigeria, and also heads up an educational initiative, Sure Foundation, to help children from poorer backgrounds to receive high quality education. I had the joyful opportunity to catch up with Sam when he visited the UK recently. Riches of Grace Church Sam’s vision is to build a strong Word and Spirit grace-filled church. Coming from a Pentecostal background he is aware of the legalism that can so easily invade the local church and also, in Nigeria, of the influence of so-called prosperity teaching.
