An outbreak of autobiographies

I love autobiographies. We can learn so much from the lives of others who have run the race well especially when they are still running. Over the last twelve months four well-known leaders in the family of Newfrontiers have written autobiographies. Each brings a different perspective to life, sharing their experience of walking with God for many decades.

John Hosier has written This side of the door. His life story includes much of the history of Newfrontiers from his perspective as a church leader. He ends with a glimpse through the door to the other side of the grave, a very helpful and exciting insight into what we shall all experience in due course.

Goff Hope’s book Hope Wins: How a Vision of Our Eternal Future Impacts Our Lives Today also looks death in the face and holds up the prospect of Heaven. This is based on his own experience of facing death both with his own cancer diagnosis and with the premature death of his daughter. Faith shines out as he walks us through the highs and lows of his journey.

Ray Lowe is well-known for the way in which he has discipled many men over the years. In The book I never read – An autobiographical journey through five decades of church leadership he commits to paper what he has learnt in discipling others and in church planting, sharing what he wished he had known when he set out. Each chapter ends with insightful questions for thought and discussion.

My own autobiography 80 Not Out was written for my family. As such it is very personal and should be read aware that you are party to family insights. As well as insights into my up-bringing and my family, it includes much of the history of Newfrontiers and of my involvement in some of the poorer nations I have had the privilege of visiting.

John’s, Goff’s and Ray’s books are all available online (Rays in kindle only. Hardcopy here). My own is available only from me here as I self-published. Click on the titles above to order copies.
