Around the Newfrontiers apostolic spheres – Commission

Church Planting, Commission, News, Poor, Westpoint
Days of Prayer I have recently had a chance to join yet another apostolic sphere of Newfrontiers, this time for a couple of days of prayer. What a joy! This pattern of prayer for leaders was established in the '80s by Terry Virgo and has been the engine room of much of the blessing that has been enjoyed both in and through the family of Newfrontiers churches for decades. I also took the opportunity to interview Guy Miller - see below. Around 120 leaders gathered in Bournemouth under Guy Miller’s leadership including leaders from Serbia, the Philippines and the Middle East. We were also joined on Skype by Mike Shore from Portugal who led us for a whole session in prayer for Portugal and Spain. It was exciting to…

Update from Regions Beyond

Church Planting, Newfrontiers, News, Regions Beyond, Steve Oliver
Here is another update from one of the Newfrontiers apostolic spheres. Recently I was privileged to join the leaders of 14 churches in the UK as they met in Crewe for two days with Steve Oliver. Steve is from South Africa though now living in Dubai where God’s favour has been on him to strengthen and grow the church he joined 5 years ago and to plant another two churches from there. He also travels widely bringing oversight to churches on five continents. His apostolic sphere is called Regions Beyond. The days together began with worship and prophetic outpouring. God quickly told us that there was a path laid with flagstones for us to walk into new places and nations. This was emphasised by a prophecy using the fact we…

The Father’s House, Latvia

Church Planting, Latvia, News, Poor
The Fathers House Church in Latvia was planted 12 years ago by David and Ilze Jones from City Church, Cambridge, although Ilze was in fact returning to her home country. Now numbering up to 40 people they meet in a hotel in Smiltene, a town of 6,000 people two hours drive from the capital, Riga. It is about twenty years since this beautiful nation became independent following the departure of the Soviet occupiers. In that time there have been periods of economic growth but, more recently, many have been badly hit by the widespread recession. Poverty is not far below the surface with unemployment at a high level. This has resulted in low wages; there are many who want any job that becomes available so people are reluctant to ask…

From small beginnings…

Christian ministry, Church Planting, Newfrontiers, News
Last Sunday was a day of great celebration as the Kings Church Mid-Sussex met to celebrate the opening if their new building. In opening the meeting Jim Partridge, the Lead Elder, shared how the local Member of Parliament had said that what this church had achieved was a miracle. I like it when the world acknowledges the greatness of God! It all started in 1968. A small group of believers began to meet in my wife Janita's and my home in Scaynes Hill to study the Bible together. The co-hosting couple (we actually met in their home on the first occasion) suggested inviting a friend of theirs to come and speak - Terry Virgo walked through the door! In 1973, following a prophetic word he had received at his home…

Pioneering

Church Planting, Cross-culture, Mexico, News, Serbia
Recently I had the pleasure of being invited to join a Forum led by Mike Betts which gathered church leaders involved in UK, the European continent, Mexico and Kenya. In each session news was shared from particular locations and my notes hint at some of the interesting, diverse and challenging situations in which people in Newfrontiers churches find themselves. Here are some extracts from my jottings: Mexico Bruce and Denise went to Mexico soon after the beginning of the new millennium. Initially they went to work with the street children in Guadalajara through the Oasis en-Gadi ministry. After 4 years contacting boys on the streets they began church planting in a poor area where the main source of income was brick making. Generally there was very bad health due to…
